LPI: What schools have offered you and what other schools are showing serious interest in you?

JJ: Northern Illinois University offered me and schools like Michigan State, Toledo, Cincinnati, Western Illinois, Southern Illinois, and Illinois are interested in me. Illinois is showing serious interest, they have been following me for a while since last summer at camps.

LPI: Do you have any visits set?

JJ: As of right now, I plan on visiting more schools after the football season. I’ve had some unofficial visits though during the season. I visited Cincinnati, Michigan State, and Illinois.

LPI: Was there a game, showcase or just a day in general where you realized that you could play at the next level?

JJ: I always felt like I could play at the next level ever since I was a kid but the time where I actually knew what it took and what I had to do to obtain that goal was last summer when me and my dad had a talk about what we needed to do to get noticed and get better so my goal can be attainable.

LPI: What should college coaches that recruit you know about you whether it be on or off the field?

JJ: My ability to mimic my game after the best and pay attention to detail. My craft is very important to me and anything I can do to better it, I will. That’s why I study such things as the aggressiveness of Mike Tyson and Ndamukong Suh, the mindset and work ethic of Kobe Bryant, the confidence of Floyd Mayweather, and the technique of Khalil Mack, Aaron Donald, and Von Miller. Same with school work, I do my best on and off the field.

LPI: What are you looking for in a program to continue your football career at?

JJ: I’m looking for a program where the program has a competitive mindset including the players and coaches. This will make the competition hard and I thrive off of that energy. Competition is what makes me grow as an athlete and a person.

LPI: Do you play any other sports during the offseason?

JJ: No, I use the offseason to strictly work on my craft. The offseason is a time for me to better develop myself physically and mentally.

LPI: Who are some of your teammates or training partners that you believe can play at the next level, but have gone overlooked by college coaches?

JJ: Well, this year I feel like our whole defense can play at the next level. But the one that sticks out the most is Joe Fitzgerald. Joe is a true leader on our team. He has the ability to have all of his teammates committed to one goal and all in. He is the best teammate I ever played with. The energy he brings and passion he shows is contagious to the whole team. Plus he has great size and strength.
