LPI: What schools have shown serious interest in you or may be close to offering?
JF: I’ve received letters from Michigan State, Iowa State, Kansas State, North Central, and Harvard. I have received emails from Yale, Columbia and Denison.
LPI: Do you have any visits set?
JF: I am going to the Iowa State game on November 10th
LPI: What should college coaches that recruit you know about you whether it be on or off the field?
JF: On the field I always bring energy to my teammates. I’ll be the first one to tell them good play or you need to step up, and I expect them to do the same for me. Off the field, I am a leader around the school. Also, help out with the mentor program where upperclassmen help the freshmen get used to the high school life.
LPI: Do you play any other sports during the offseason?
JF: Yes, I play basketball. I’ve been playing my whole life and basketball gave me the footwork I need to be a great offensive lineman. Also, a great way to keep active and in shape during the off-season.
LPI: What does it mean to you to play for the St. Patrick Shamrocks?
JF: Ever since I was young I wanted to be a shamrock. I’ve been around St. Pats since I can remember. There’s something different about being a shamrock that I never felt at other schools when I started my high school search. You can ask any all-boys school what it’s like and they will say brotherhood, but at St. Pat’s it’s more than a brotherhood it’s pride, tradition, teamwork, and chemistry.
LPI: Who are some of your teammates or training partners that you believe can play at the next level, but have gone overlooked by college coaches?
JF:
Xavier Saldana – Great teammate, he is a player that is very overlooked by colleges. He’s never late, always on time and will not do anything under 110%. Great wide receiver that plays a little corner. Great person to have on your team.
Eric Wozny – He’s a junior running back just a straight tank on the field and if he gets into the open field good luck tackling the kid. Works hard, always in the weight room, and always trying to get stronger. Another great player you want on your team.
Jack O’Rourke – This kid has the biggest heart you’ll ever see. He was my QB and starting Safety. Never played a snap of quarterback in his life, yet steps right into it and just killed it. Also, a great kid to have on your team.
Kwame Achampong – He is a right tackle, but his main position is defensive end. He is all gas no brakes on the field. Happy I get to play another year with him. He also plays basketball at St. Patrick.
