LPI: What schools have shown serious interest in you or may be close to offering?

JR: No schools have shown serious interest in me but I have been in contact with Northwestern, Cincinnati, and Minnesota.

LPI: Have you visited or camped anywhere recently or do you have any planned visits or camps coming up? If so, where at and when?

JR:I have no visits planned for this year but I plan to attend camps at the University of Iowa on June 15th and Notre Dame on June 23rd. I might also attend a few more camps but I have not decided yet.

LPI: What should college coaches that recruit you know about you whether it be on or off the field?

JR: I have been working towards playing college football since I started playing the game. I love working in the weight room with my teammates and most of all I love competing on the football field. I understand that we are Student-Athletes so I take my academics very serious.

LPI: What do you want your major to be in college?

JR: I would like my major in college to be in business. I have always been interested in owning my own business one day.

LPI: What are your individual and team goals for this upcoming season?

JR: Our team goals this year is to make the state playoffs and make a run for the State Title. My individual goals for this season is to become the best center in Illinois and help my teammates become better football players.

LPI: Who are some of your teammates or training partners that you believe can play at the next level, but have gone overlooked by college coaches?

JR: One person who can play at the next level is Max Pignotti. He is a safety that started on varsity as a sophomore last year. He is a very hard worker, hard hitting, extremely athletic, outstanding academics and most of all a great teammate. Another teammate of mine who I believe can play at the next level is Jerrell Wright. He is a wide receiver who also started on varsity last year as a sophomore. He is very fast, has really good hands, hard worker and is very good in the classroom.

Coach’s Corner

Providence coach Mark Coglianese on Renfro on and off the field

“Jake is as good off the field as he is on the field. He knows what it takes to be successful and doesn’t let anyone outwork him. He is mature beyond his years. Even as a sophomore he was looked up to and respected by all his teammates. I would not be surprised if his teammates vote him as a captain next year. In our conference he played against some of the best nose guards and he responded to every challenge.”
