LPI: Do you play any other sports in the offseason?
JM: Yes, I participate in track from January through May and I run the 200m dash, and throw discus and shotput. I specialize in discus and with my best throw of 158 feet, am hoping to go to state this year.
LPI: Have you visited anywhere recently or do you have any planned visits coming up? If so, where at and when?
JM: I’m still figuring everything out in terms of visits, but the most recent visit I had was to Iowa State to visit my brother who is a sophomore studying chemical engineering. It was a great campus and has been my favorite up to this point.
LPI: What schools have shown the most interest in you or may be close to offering?
JM: From my understanding, the most interested schools so far have been Purdue and North Dakota State. These schools have been reaching out and although I have not yet visited, they have shown a lot of interest.
LPI: What do you want to major in college and why?
JM: I plan to major in business. It is very broad still but I have not yet narrowed down which field of business interests me the most. I chose business due to the fact that my mom has had a lot of success in the field and I just enjoy understanding the economy and hope to one day own a company of my own.
LPI: Who are some of your teammates or training partners that you believe can play at the next level, but have gone overlooked by college coaches?
JM: I believe wholeheartedly that Tj Keene, an outside linebacker for our school, has what it takes to play college football for a handful of reasons. Firstly, he’s an extremely hard worker. We always lift together and he is always, without fail, putting in 110% into his training. Furthermore, he’s very dedicated to the team and shows leadership and passion about the sport. Tj also is very upbeat and never backs down from a challenge, a quality which I believe every college player should possess. Next there is Jake White. He is a hard worker and as a sophomore right now, is not the largest cornerback, but he is one of the best I have ever seen. Regularly, I will have conversations with our defensive coordinator, Coach Lehr, and we both have come to the consensus that Jake may be the best corner he has ever coached and I have ever played with. The last player I would like to mention is Drew Jenkins. Drew has been playing football for most of his life and lives by it. He goes above and beyond what is expected of him and has become a fantastic wide receiver who is definitely college football bound.
Coach’s Corner
Crystal Lake Central coach Jon McLaughlin on Munn on and off the field
“Jack is an all around student athlete. He is extremely long and strong with the hip flexibility of a DB. Here are some numbers 300 Bench, 460 Squat and DL, 4.2 GPA, 1450 SAT. This past year we were hiring a new Principal. Only one student was selected to be on the Interview panel and it was Jack. He is a 2 sport athlete. He also does track-shot and Discus (160+ thrower). Outstanding character and extremely hard worker.”
