LPI: Do have any offers at the moment? What schools have shown serious interest in you or may be close to offering?
BB: So far Ball State University has offered me a scholarship. I have a few schools who have been showing a lot of interest in me but am not sure about which schools could be closing in on an offer.
LPI: Have you visited anywhere recently or do you have any planned visits coming up? If so, where at and when?
BB: I visited Ball State for Junior Day late in January and have multiple schools spring schedules and Junior Day dates. I don’t have any dates scheduled yet but am looking into spring practices or Junior Days at Penn University, Cincinnati, Toledo, and summer camps at Michigan State.
LPI: What should college coaches that recruit you know about you whether it be on or off the field?
BB: I am a strong leader on and off the field and love everything that football brings into my life. On the field I will scratch and claw every play to help my team win. When I step onto the field I turn into a whole new person and I’m ready to do whatever it takes to help a college program win football games and be successful.
LPI: Do you play any other sports in the offseason or 7on7?
BB: Currently I don’t play any other sports or 7 on 7, but I’m focusing on gaining weight and improving my agility and speed by going to training sessions and lifting very often throughout the week.
LPI: Who are some of your teammates or training partners that you believe can play at the next level, but have gone overlooked by college coaches?
BB: Elijah Mahan is a very strong running back that is also a Junior and he is a straight up beast. I’ve seen him run the ball in big games and refuse to be tackled. He has great elusiveness and isn’t afraid to put his shoulder down and run someone over if needed. I know that he would fit in perfectly at any college and be able to help them significantly.
Coach’s Corner
Roncalli coach Scott Marsh on Berger on and off the field
“Brandon is a young man with great size and ability. The sky is the limit for him. He’s just now starting to come into his own physically. His family has produced many, many athletes here on the Southside. He loves the work of football and has become a great student of the game over the last couple of years. He loves and excels at special teams. He really fills a bunch of roles for us and is a great, unselfish teammate who wants to do whatever he has to to win.”
