LPI: What are your goals for this upcoming season?

KS: First and foremost, win a state title. Right now, that’s pretty much all that’s on my mind because I know we can do it. Secondly, be an all-state linebacker, which I know I can do.

LPI: What schools have shown serious interest in you or may be close to offering?

KS: Army has been the school showing the most interest in me, I recently took a junior day visit up there. The academies are very appealing to me because of the sense of duty, and academic rigor.

LPI: Do you have any visits coming up? If so, where at and when?

KS: I’ll be visiting Central Michigan on March 24 and Southern Illinois on April 7. I would like to get out and see Navy at some point this spring as well.

LPI: Do you play any other sports in the offseason?

KS: I’m a pitcher, catcher, and infielder for the baseball team.

LPI: Who are some of your teammates or training partners that you believe can play at the next level, but have gone overlooked by college coaches?

KS:

Jordan Gandy – He’s a guy that I think every college coach would love to have on their team because he’s willing to give everything to win and that’s my favorite thing about him. On top of that, he’s a great athlete with some elite speed and quickness.

Coach’s Corner

DeKalb Head Coach Matt Weckler on Smith on and off the field

“Keegan is a great kid and leader on and off the field. He is diligent in his preparation and does not cut any corners when talking about putting in work. He makes athletes around him better and best of all responds to coaching positively and grows because of it.”
