LPI: Going into your senior season this fall, do you consider yourself a leader on your team? If so, how do you lead on and off the field?
DD: I would consider myself a leader going into my senior season. Making sure everyone is showing up to practice, the weight room, and performing in the classroom is something I make a priority, so there are no issues coming time to play on Friday nights. On the field, I use my experience to keep the guys calm and focus on one play at a time.
LPI: What have you been doing to take your game to the next level. Also, do you play any other sports in the offseason or do you play 7on7?
DD: I play basketball in the winter. To improve my game, I make sure I am always going to the football lifting, conditioning and lifting in addition to that. Training with guys in my position during the offseason is something I do as well.
LPI: What schools have shown interest in you or may be close to offering? Also, do you have any visits planned?
DD: No schools have contacted me yet. I am hoping to start receiving interest in the summer and during this upcoming season. I have no visits planned. I hope to start planning some as soon as possible.
LPI: Who on your team has what it takes to play college ball, but are currently being under recruited?
DD:
Jake Johnson – Is a one of my teammates that I have played with my whole life, and with his size and athleticism, he can bring something to any program at the next level. He has learned a lot this past season, and he will be a big part of our team.
Antowon Tolbert – Is another person I believe is good enough to play anywhere. He is a running back with great speed and one of the strongest kids in the program. Playing alongside one of the best running backs in the state last year, he flew under the radar but learned a lot, and he will be a huge player this upcoming season.
Coach’s Corner
Wheaton North Head Coach Joel Wardynski on Dickinson on and off the field
“Drake Dickinson is a high-character young man who has already been a two-year starter for us in the secondary. Drake loves to compete on every snap and takes a lot of pride in his performance. Drake’s senior leadership on and off the field will be pivotal for us in the upcoming 2018 season.”
