Conant’s 2018 MLB/RB Jack Reiger holds a handful of offers with more programs showing strong interest. We talked his offseason work with BOOM football, his upcoming visits and what’s next for his recruiting. I also got Conant Head Coach Bryan Stortz’s thoughs on Reiger.

LPI: What are doing this offseason to get ready for the season and take your game to the next level? Did you play 7on7 this year or were you in any other sports?

JR: During the offseason I really focused on perfecting the little things, as well as improving my speed and strength. I also have been very conscious on what I’m eating to make sure that I am gaining the proper weight. This past spring I played 7v7 for BOOM football which really improved my speed and skills as a cover linebacker. Another upside in playing for BOOM was that I was always competing and I think continuing to have that competing mentality throughout the off-season is huge.

LPI: You currently have offers from Indiana State, Missouri Western State and Northern Michigan. What skill set can you bring to the table for a college football program?

JR: I feel like thing I can bring to those teams is a leadership role. Not only am I a leader by voice but a leader by my actions as well.

LPI: Besides the schools that have offered, which schools have shown serious interest in you?

JR: Some other schools that have shown interest are Lehigh, North Dakota, Northern Iowa, Missouri State, as well as Army and Air Force.

LPI: Where have you visited most recently and do you have any planned visits set?

JR: The most recent school that I visited was Indiana State. I’ve been really busy with camps and summer practice so I haven’t really been able to go on many visits. I would really like to go visit Miami of Ohio in the next month or so.

LPI: Who are some of your teammates or training partners that you believe can play at the next level, but have gone overlooked by college coaches?

JR:

Peyton Nigro – He is from Lincoln Way Central and is way over looked by coaches. Kid is just an all around animal on the field. He poses great leadership qualities, and flies to the ball from the safety or hybrid position.

Jayvon Blissett – Another kid that I think is over looked from Hoffman Estates. A great kid with great size that should definitely have more offers, I think he is kind of blocked out for coaches by Purdue commit Jaylen Alexander of the same school.

Coach’s Corner

Conant Head Coach Bryan Stortz on Reiger on and off the field

“Since I’m new to Conant, I’ve known Jack for a little over 4 months. In that time he has demonstrated a strong work ethic and high moral compass. He is intrinsically motivated and leads both by example and vocally. I’m excited to work with a young man with such a solid foundation and eagerness to develop.”
