A transfer from Marist, Homewood-Flossmoor’s 2019 RB Leon Tanna has been in touch with FBS schools. We talked his offseason work with Midwest BOOM as well as some of his under the radar teammates. I also got HF’s head coach Craig Buzea’s thoughts on Tanna.

LPI: What are you going to do to take your game to the next level this offseason? Are you playing 7on7 or are you playing any other sports?

LT: I’m in the weight room a lot more, I’ve been studying the playbook and getting down the concepts of the plays. Yes, I am playing 7 on 7 and I recently finished my 7 on 7 season out with Midwest BOOM.

LPI: You currently don’t have any offers, but I believe you have what it takes to play at the next level. What skill set can you bring to the table for a college football program?

LT: I can bring a lot of things to the table such as pushing my teammates, handling my responsibilities on and off the field and bringing everything I have in my ability to win games and a championship.

LPI: Which schools have shown serious interest in you?

LT: The school that has shown the most interest in me is Miami Of Ohio. They have been recruiting me pretty well. I also have interest from Toledo and Cincinnati.

LPI: Where have you visited most recently and do you have any planned visits or camps/showcases set?

LT: The only school I visited recently was Miami Of Ohio for a camp and it went pretty
well. Coaches talked to my mom and met my family.

LPI: Who are some of your teammates or training partners that you believe can play at the next level, but have gone overlooked by college coaches?

LT:

Opeyemi Fatuki – There are multiple teammates that I feel have been overlooked by colleges one in particular is Fatuki. He has a great character and one of the most hard hitting LB’s in the nation.

Charlie Brooks – He has the size and he definitely brings it every snap of the ball.

Ryan Flournoy – He is a go to guy when you’re talking the pass game.

Maurion Scott – He’s one of the tallest WR on our team and he as great hands.

Coach’s Corner

Homewood-Flossmoor Head Coach Craig Buzea on Tanna on and off the field

“Has worked extremely hard in the weight room in the offseason. Runs with a very unique blend of speed, quickness and power. Great kid and team player. Loves to compete. Looking for a big year from this Jr. RB.”
