Althoff Catholic’s 2018 WR/DB Melvin Brock is a great athlete that can play multiple positions at a high level. We discussed playing 7on7 with BOOM STL, schools he’s been in touch with and his summer camp plans.

LPI: What are you going to do to take your game to the next level this offseason? Are you playing 7on7 or are you playing any other sports?
MB: I work out twice a day, once in the morning and again after school with team weight training. I’m also currently playing 7on7 with BOOM STL.
LPI: You currently don’t have any offers, but I believe you have what it takes to play at the next level. What skill set can you bring to the table for a college football program?
MB: I can play any position I am put at and excel at it. I don’t have the biggest hands but I can make some amazing catches. I also have great speed, quick feet, sharp routes and can jump.
LPI: Which schools have shown serious interest in you?
MB: Indiana State, South Dakota, Bowling Green, SIUC, and Princeton.
LPI: Where have you visited most recently and do you have any planned visits or camps/showcases set?
MB: I went on a junior day up at Carbondale. I’m planning on going over to Indiana State for a visit May 15th.
LPI: On or off the field, how do you demonstrate leadership or go the extra mile for your teammates?
MB: I go all out for my teammates, when someone is down I pick them up. I give good advice, make sure all my teammates have the right mindset. I also make sure they keep up with their grades and homework, because if one man falls we all fall.
LPI: Who are some of your teammates or training partners that you believe can play at the next level, but have gone overlooked by college coaches?
MB:
My teammates Devyn Nash, Eric Rheinecker, Payton Ledbetter, Patrick Ahrens, Burke Watts, Anthony Hughes, Ron Jones, Justin Strong. Really my whole team, Althoff produces college athletes as a whole.
MB:
Devyn Nash (DL) – Has nice footwork, breathtaking moves off the line and will kill any OL that steps in front of him.
Justin Strong (RB/WR/DB) – Has some nice big hands, amazing size for his position, and a lockdown defensive back.
Eric Rheinecker (OL) – Is a nice big lineman with great footwork and is always perfecting his craft, he trains 7 days a week and has a hard work ethic. Lastly,
Patrick Ahrens(OL) – He is a 6’9 offensive lineman with long arms and nice footwork, definitely D1 potential.
