Showcase Top Performers
Here at the top performers from the Lemming Prep Insider Showcase on Saturday April 29th 2017. I will also be doing breakdowns for each position so make sure to look out for those over the next few days.
Austin Nagel: WR Lemont (2018) Overall MVP
Kept getting open all day long. Made multiple DBs stumble over his double moves. College coaches kept coming up to me asking who number 126 was. A phenomenal route runner, who is still waiting on his first offer. He doesn’t blow you away physically, but everything else adds up to a great prospect that I think would fit great at a FCS school, perhaps of the instate variety.
Jake Leffew: QB Valparaiso (2018) QB MVP
I didn’t know much about Mr. Leffew going into this event, but I do now. He has a very live arm to go along with a very quick release. Lead receivers all day and showed that gunslinger mentality that college coaches love. College coaches and media in attendance noted his very strong performance.
AJ Deinhart: RB Naperville Central (2018) RB MVP
Measured at 5’8″ 178lbs so he surely wasn’t the biggest RB at the event, but boy did he show out. Every rep I saw he was burning DBs and making athletic catches. I see him as more of a slot receiver at the next level, but has the ability to play multiple positions. He has a 3.75 GPA so I’d love to see him play at an Ivy League school.
Jahleel Billinglsey: TE Phillips (2019) WR/TE MVP
At 6’5″ 226lbs he ran a 4.70 40 and a 4.36 shuttle in difficult conditions… as a sophomore… Wow. He caught the ball with his hands and continuously beat DB’s in 1 on 1’s utilizing his big frame. I think he’s going to be one of the states best prospects in the 2019 class when it’s all said and done. He needs to be on more school’s radars.
Jake Detiveaux: OL Hampshire (2018) OL MVP
Coaches raved all day about Jake’s ability. This guy is a dominate run blocker who has a bit of a nasty streak. He played DL and OL and excelled at both. I think he has a bright future on the line of scrimmage wether it be DL or OL. Also performed well during 1 on 1’s.
Isaiah Lee: DL Nazareth (2018) DL MVP
Here’s a guy who offensive lineman struggled with in 1 on 1s routinely. Had great hands and a relentless motor all day. He was another guy who coaches continued to rave about. Already holds two FBS offers and is on colleges radars, but don’t be surprised if that list continues to grow very soon.
Austin Reifsteck: LB Nazareth (2018) LB MVP
Moved very well with a with a 4.66 40 and 4.15 shuttle in terrible conditions. I think he’s a kid whose stock is only going to continue to grow during college camps and his senior season. Gave relentless effort and showed excellent change of direction ability during individual drills. Was clearly one of the best players at the event.
Byron Perkins: CB De La Salle (2018) DB MVP
Had great footwork in individual drills and got in and out of his breaks very clean. DBs struggled all day in the wet conditions, but Perkins used every bit of his 6’2″ frame in press coverage to get his hands on wide outs and routinely disrupt their routes despite the conditions. Was very consistent in 1 on 1’s. Also wanted to note that Western Illinois was in attendance at the showcase and offered Perkins 2 days after the event.
