LPI: What are you going to do to take your game to the next level this offseason? Are you playing 7on7 or are you playing any other sports?
DP: This offseason I am honing my technique while also improving in the weight room and continually working on quickness and speed. A part of my game I needed to improve on was my footwork, which I have been rigorously developing as one of my skills. I’m excited to get onto the field in the fall and see how much I have improved.
LPI: You currently don’t have any offers, but I believe you have what it takes to play at the next level. What skill set can you bring to the table for a college football program?
DP: I believe I have a lot to offer to a college football program. While I am good with my hands at the line, my frame and athleticism affords me the versatility needed to cover receivers downfield. I possess the ability to mold my game in order to better support the team to fit many schemes on defense. I’m able to play cornerback, both safeties, as well as closer in the box. I also bring a competitive nature that sparks a fire within others.
LPI: Which schools have shown serious interest in you?
DP: I’ve talked back and forth with coaches from Toledo, Butler, Eastern Michigan, Saint Francis, Northern Arizona, and Northern Michigan. I’ve also received many things in the mail from various other programs.
LPI: Where have you visited most recently and do you have any planned visits or camps/showcases set?
DP: Most recently I have visited Northern Michigan. I also have an upcoming visit at Northern Arizona for a tour and camp. In addition, I’m attending an upcoming Rivals camp in St. Louis, as well as attending both Toledo and Northwestern’s camps in June.
LPI: On or off the field, how do you demonstrate leadership or go the extra mile for your teammates?
DP: I demonstrate leadership in my day-to-day actions. I understand that energy and attitude can go a long way in motivating others to be better. I pride myself on being a charismatic leader who leads by example.
LPI: Who are some of your teammates or training partners that you believe can play at the next level, but have gone overlooked by college coaches?
DP:
Chase Love – Chase is a multi-skilled football player who has played QB, LB, WR and Safety for our Team. He is an intelligent and intense competitor who will always be around the action on the field. Any position he plays this year, it can to expected he’d be a top performer who will compete for all-conference honors.
Victor Akinyemi – Vick is a special WR with unique skills. He is a big, fast physical presence who really catches the ball with his hands. Vick and I compete hard in practice. He makes me a better player every day. Additionally, he is a great blocking wide receiver. I expect that Vick will get more looks this fall.
Jordan Rodgers – Jordan is a strong, hard-nosed RB. He works hard in the weight room and has great acceleration out of the backfield. Jordan will be a difficult player to bring down for opposing defenses and expect to see him crossing the goal line frequently this season.
Max Kinast – Max is our Middle LB. He is relentless in his pursuit of ball-carriers. He is energetic and never satisfied with a sub-par team performance. Max is the person you want of your side of the ball making plays. I expect his determination and tackling abilities will provide him an opportunity to be a very good college football player.
Will Crowder – Will is a player who can play both LB and DL at a high level. He will be a dominate force for our team this year. Will makes some really unbelievable plays. His strength, quickness, and explosiveness gives him a competitive edge. Our team expects to see Will consistently do some great things at key moments for us. I’m sure he will be a great asset to any college program.
