Player Primer: Kevin Pate

Crete-Monee’s 2017 WR Kevin Pate has a D2 offer, but after a strong senior season I can see that changing soon. I met with and saw Kevin at the EdgyTim Senior Showcase last night and he stood out to me as much as anybody. College coaches were coming up to Kevin left and right to talk to him. Some recruiting experts also had great things to say about Kevin’s performance last night…

You can find Kevin on Twitter @CALLMELILPK.

LPI: You guys finished the season very well at 8-3, but lost to a high powered St. Laurence squad in the 6A playoffs. Now that your season is over, what are you going to do to take your game to the next level?

KP: Finishing out my senior season at 8-3 only gives me the motivation to excel at an higher level. For me to be ready for the next level i have to work 3X as much as I have to achieve the goals I have set thus far and that is to excel at the collegiate level. I have college players giving great advice as to how the change has affected them and what to look forward to going into college. I can’t wait until i have decided where I would like to go and I’m very excited to be moving from high school to college one step closer to my future goal.

LPI: You have 1 offer from D2 Davenport (which I think is crazy). What are your greatest strengths or what can you bring to the table for a college football program?

KP: My greatest strength that I can bring to the table is that I can play any position my coach puts me at. I am mainly a WR but I’m also an Athlete. I have played almost every position on the field so wherever I’m able to play there will be no surprise that I will excel at it. I am an leader and can offer alot to an team.

LPI: Besides the schools that have offered you, which schools have you kept in contact with the most? Or which schools have shown interest in you?

KP: I have kept in contact with Davenport since the summer. I have also been in contact with schools such as Wisconsin-Whitewater, Wisconsin-Platteville, University Of Illinois, Southern Illinois University and much more. I really am liking all the schools I’ve been in contact with all equal and would like to start visiting the schools very soon if i haven’t already been done there.

LPI: Where have you visited most recently and do you have any planned visits coming up?

KP: I have visited University Of Illinois And Wisconsin Whitewater. I definitely would like to go visit Southern Illinois University and Wisconsin-Platteville very soon and back to Wisconsin Whitewater. I’m very excited to visit these schools as well as many more who are interested!

LPI: On or off the field, how do you demonstrate leadership?

KP: Leadership is more than just on the field. It all starts with the weight room during the off season and not just for yourself but for your entire team. I demonstrate leadership by influencing people to do things they haven’t done before or achieve goals that they never thought they could reach. I demonstrate leadership by pushing my teammates to levels they didn’t think they could make it too. So that next time they believe they cant do something they will second guess it and give it there all.

LPI: You guys have a lot of talented recruits on your team. Who are some of your teammates that you believe have a chance to play at the next level, but may be getting overlooked by college coaches?

KP: There are alot of people i believe that are being overlooked by colleges on the Crete Monee Team such as Myself, Marcus Kidd, Isaiah Rucker, Joshua Tomas, Creo Argue, Jaleel Holloway, Xavier Ledet, Karon Stampley and Jaylen Peoples.

Marcus Kidd – Is an Athlete and is one of the best leaders I have ever worked with. through bad and good he’s always got his head high and cheering his team on. He’s a Wide Receiver who is very flexible and can catch anything thats near him any college that gets him will definitely be happy.

Isaiah Rucker – Is a 6’6 QB who has come a long way he is not your average QB. You will have to see him on the field to be able to see the tremendous talent he has to offer.

Joshua Tomas – A wide receiver who is very flexible. It doesn’t matter where the ball is placed is going to come up with it. He is very fast and is also an incredible blocker downfield.

Creo Argue, Jaleel Holloway and Karon Stampley are just three of the D lineman we have. They all are remarkable and words cant explain what they could do to teams in there way. I have never worked with D-Line as fast as they are.

Xavier Ledet – Once he finds that sideline you’re not catching him. He’s very energetic and can really break some people down at that running back position.

Jaylen Peoples – Energetic is an understatement for this kid. A remarkable Linebacker who has many abilities. He knows how to fill the hole and is an very aggressive player.

Whoever gets these players will definitely have no regret they all are remarkable players and have achieved a lot. I can’t wait to be playing with or against them soon!
