LPI Game Visit Preview: #2 Glenbard West @ #18 Bolingbrook

Glenbard West

The Hilltoppers come into this game fresh off an undefeated season and a 7A state championship. This team does not have the D1 recruits that Bolingbrook does, but are very well coached and disciplined by head coach Chad Hetlet. Year in and year out Glenbard West graduates quality players and simply reloads each and every year. They don’t have the size of some other powerhouse programs, but they make up for it with speed so I think this should be another great year for the Hilltoppers. Dionte Moorehead is an underrated defensive lineman that burst onto the scene as a junior for the Hilltoppers last season. He will play fullback as well. Jackson Goleash will shift to safety this year and looks to be a sleeper this season. Stud running back Sam Brodner has graduated into a Wisconsin Badger leaving the bulk of the running game to D.J. Ficarella. If they can contain Bolingbrook’s weapons on the outside and get to the quarterback I think the Hilltoppers will do very this game.

Bolingbrook

Bolingbrook snuck into the playoffs last year with a 5-4 record and fell to a tough Naperville Central team in the first round. This is a very intriguing team that I think has a change to be great. They return a lot of great players and its just a matter of them putting it all together this year. New OC Doug DiFusco has 2 great weapons on the outside in Illinois commit Kendall Smith (LPI #6 WR) and the highly recruited I’Shawn Stewart as well as John Ivlow (LPI #24 OL) anchoring the offensive line. DiFusco could be the piece the Raiders need to make a deep run into the playoffs this year. Wisconsin commit Izayah Green-May (LPI #4 DL) is back this year to lead a very dangerous defense front along with Dashaun Mallory. I reached out to Kendall Smith for his thoughts on this weeks game and he was excited saying “It’s the most wonderful time of the year!!!”. It is indeed a most wonderful time with football kicking off this weekend. This should be a good game that is nothing, but exciting. There are 2 keys for the Raiders in this game. 1. If they can stop the run game so the Hilltoppers cannot control the clock I think they have a great chance of winning. 2. If they play together and don’t beat themselves they will put themselves in a good position in this game.
