LPI: Do you play any other sports in the offseason or do you play 7on7?
WT: I have played volleyball and basketball in previous years. I also played for Boom the last several seasons. This year, I plan on playing tennis in the spring. In addition to the sports, I condition regularly. I lift daily, do speed and agility training at Acceleration as well as work with Steve Gregory at QB Farm weekly.
LPI: What schools have shown serious interest in you or may be close to offering?
WT: I have had the opportunity to talk with several schools throughout last year and this year. As of right now, the schools who have the most interest in me are Miami of Ohio, Western Michigan, Northern Illinois University, and University of Cincinnati. I am also in contact with several Ivy League schools.
LPI: Do you have any visits set?
WT: During the fall season, I did game day visits to: Duke University, Western Michigan, Miami of Ohio, Michigan State, Northern Illinois University and University of Cincinnati. I plan on getting back to most of those for Junior Days and/or Spring games. I am also planning on visiting Yale, and some other Ivy League schools in January and February.
LPI: What should college coaches that recruit you know about you whether it be on or off the field?
WT: I think It is important for college coaches to know they will be getting the hardest working athlete when they recruit me. I am a leader both on the field and off. I not only hold myself to high expectations, I support all of my teammates to help them succeed as well. I am someone who constantly evaluates my own performance and seeks feedback in order to constantly improve. I have been fortunate to be a part of a great team, with great coaches who have helped me become the player I am.
LPI: What are you looking for in a program or school to continue your football career at?
WT: I am looking for a team that works together as a team and functions like a family. I want to be at a school that challenges me both academically and athletically. Team is incredibly important to me, I want to be at a school that places importance on team work and success.
LPI: What do you want your major to be in college?
WT: Right now, I am undecided. I am interested in possibly something to do with math or business management.
LPI: Who are some of your teammates or training partners that you believe can play at the next level, but have gone overlooked by college coaches?
WT: I am surrounded by excellent teammates. Someone who I think gets overlooked is my three year, starting offensive guard, Ian Mooney. Ian is an unbelievable player, teammate and person. He is a quiet leader who always goes above and beyond. You will never meet someone who hits harder. Zach Jacobson is a three year varsity starting safety. Zach is an awesome student, athlete, teammate and friend. He leads the defense and works harder than anyone I know. Matt Johnson is a Junior defensive end. Matt lead the defense with the most sacks this year and works harder every day he comes to practice. He has not missed a single off season lift. Isiah Lowery is an outstanding junior running back. He stepped up this year when we needed him and is an unbelievable player and has an amazing work ethic. Aaron Jankovsky is another unbelievable player at wide receiver and teammate. He never misses a workout or practice. No matter his size, he always catches the balls thrown to him. Cameron VanVleet is a junior linebacker. Cameron works his butt off everyday, constantly and has improved so much over his high school career and has more come.
