We have seen some great games and great teams play at a high level after 2 weeks of high school football in Illinois. However, some teams may have started slow adjusting to their new schemes or teammates, while other teams played a really rough schedule. Here are 8 0-2 teams that I think you should still look out for this season.
Am I missing any teams? Let me know on Twitter @lemminginsider
Bishop McNamara – Played 2 LPI 25 teams in #23 Immaculate Conception and #21 Bolingbrook early. Coach Zinnani and the Fighting Irish aren’t done yet
Naperville Central – In a loaded DuPage Valley conference. Lost to 2 tough teams in Glenbard North and Neuqua Valley. Trevor Campbell, Luke Turner and Fabian Kratz are 3 D1 recruits that will help this team get back on track.
Joliet Catholic – You can never count out coach Dan Sharp and the Hilltoppers.
Simeon – Played 2 good teams in Oak Park River Forest and Marist. Schedule doesn’t get easier with Phillips this week, but Jayshon Jackson, Damani Reed and Jalen Griffin and crew have a chance for an upset.
Warren Township – Lyons Township, New Trier and Libertyville is not an easy schedule to start the year. This team is talented so keep an eye on them.
Richards – Returning a lot of talent this year after going 7-4. Don’t sleep on the bulldogs this year.
Belleville West – Batavia and Lincoln Way East are no cupcakes. They have another test in O’Fallon this week.
Hinsdale South – Lost a close game to Mt. Prospect then lost to LPI #2 Glenbard West. Schedule gets a little easier with no more LPI top 25 teams the rest of the way.
